From Ceramics to Ceramic Tiles

June 14 , 2024

Ceramic tiles, as a building material, have a history dating back thousands of years. China is the birthplace of porcelain, and has already mastered the art of making ceramics over 5000 years ago. With the progress of the times, ceramic products have gradually evolved from daily necessities to decorations and building materials.

The earliest ceramic tiles can be traced back to ancient architectural decoration, where people used ceramic tiles to decorate walls and floors. In the Song Dynasty, the production process of ceramic tiles became more mature, and more exquisite patterns and glaze colors emerged. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the production of ceramic tiles reached its peak, and many palaces and temples extensively used colored ceramic tiles for decoration.

After the modern industrial revolution, the ceramic tile manufacturing industry also underwent revolutionary changes. With the advancement of production technology, ceramic tiles can not only achieve large-scale standardized production, but also have a wider variety of types, from smooth and flat to relief patterns, from single colors to colorful, and their application fields have expanded from building decoration to furniture, daily necessities and other fields.
